To save on utility cost and have your dryer run more efficiently check and see if your lint trap needs to be replaced. To do this remove your lint trap from your dryer. Clean off excess lint. Run your lint trap under the faucet. If your lint trap holds the water you should replace it. If the water can't get through neither can the air when your dryer is running. Replacing a clogged lint trap will dry your cloths faster, make your dryer run more efficiently and save you money on future costly repairs!
To save on the life of your Refrigerator and Freezer it is important to insure that the doors are sealing properly. Loose seals will cause your Refrigerator and Freezer to work harder and use more energy. To check and see if your seals need to be replaced try this simple method. I call this method the "Dollar Bill Method." Place a dollar bill in the seal of your appliance. Close the door and try to pull the dollar bill out. If you can easily remove the dollar bill through the closed door the seal is not tight enough. You should look into having the seal replaced. A seal that is not working properly will leak cold air out of the unit and cause the unit to run more frequently, costing you more in utilities and significantly reducing the life of your appliance. It is also a good idea to clean your seal often. Keeping the seal free of debris and build up will help the seal to work properly and last longer.
